Can a sewer-rat serve a useful purpose?

Not really but I could only imaging sewer rats playing instruments at the Subway platforms. OK FINE…I sound like my meds are running out. I have to admit that I do like the fact that they eat all the roaches.

Presenting…the world’s largest model train display!

This thing is amazing. It seems like it covers different cities in the USA. I love the part where they get to Orlando, FL and you see the upside-down Ripley’s Museum.

It's a tweet worth $50,000? Horizon Realty thinks so.

In an unprecedented event (not really, it's was only a matter of time before it happened), Someone has finally sued over a tweet. A tweet is when you write something on twitter...DUH!!! According to the company's lawyer Jeffrey Michael, quoted in the Chicago Sun-Times, “The statements are obviously false, and it’s our intention to prove that".

But now what was said? “Who said sleeping in a moldy apartment was bad for you? Horizon realty thinks it’s okay.”

How much should a bridge sway?

By design, bridges are made to sway a certain amount to disperse stress thru the structure. But, what's too much? Well, too much would be The Tacoma-Narrows bridge collapse. Not enough is an asphalt road. Well, just watch and judge for yourself!

Medical Sagas

So for the last 6 weeks I've been crazy sick. First it was an inflammation in one of my teeth that caused my cheek to swell like a chipmunk. Then the week after I had a root canal. After that I had the flu (was actually treated for swine) and then I had bronchitis. Quite an eventful chain of events! These are some of the picts I was able to take while trying to maintain somewhat of a sense of humor.

View from the E.R. bed...great show!!! ;-)

View from the dentist chair...Root Canals are not fun.

Getting fitted for a temporary cap. It's funny how the temporary cap actually smelled like plumbing cement but in actuality it's made of acrylic.

Ever had this type of beer?

It's called "Bock Beer". It's pretty much the leftover from the keg. It goes really well with BBQ since it kind of balances the tastes.

How high can sea waves get?

Friday, April 30, 2009, 11:31 AM USS Kitty Hawk in Western Pacific.  It's not often you see an aircraft carrier take waves over the bow. To put it in perspective, the deck is 102 feet off the water when docked.  You can see the ship shudder when it crests (camera wiggle). You can bet the flight director was wishing he had parked that chopper a lot further aft. USS KITTY HAWK: Seastate 3.

Would follow the rules even if something bad was going to happen?

I got this in an email from one of my co-workers:

“The Good news:  It was a normal day in Sharon Springs, KS when a Union Pacific crew boarded a loaded coal train for the long trek to Salina.

The Bad news:  Just a few miles into the trip a wheel bearing became overheated and melted, letting a metal support drop down and grind on the rail, creating white hot molten metal droppings spewing down to the rail.

The Good news:  A very alert crew noticed smoke about halfway back in the train and immediately stopped the train in compliance with the rules.

The Bad news:  The train stopped with the hot wheel over a wooden bridge with creosote ties and trusses (In defense of the crew, according to Sixgun Jr., the crew tried to 'splain to higher-ups but were instructed not to move the damn train!).”

Moral of the story? Rules are Rules!!! (Don’t let common sense get in the way of an cool disaster).

Trendy shoes you gonna love!

So today I found this post from one of the blogs I follow (Fashionista 514) and noticed these really intriguing shoes. Not that I don’t like them. I actually would buy a pair of these for my wife ;-)
